Kuala Lumpur, 12 February, 2021. Chair of Inkmaker Group's Foundation, Alice Guerra, sits symbolically on her Mythical Red Auroch to usher in an abundance of strength and positivity, to inspire all, in the year of the OX!
Globally acclaimed multidisciplinary artist Alice, better known in the art world as Lai Lai Chang, put aside her voluntary duties with Inkmaker Group's Foundation to complete a commission for Chinese New Year. Titled the "Return of the Mythical Red Auroch", the large mosaic bovine, now rears proudly outside its new owner's premises "luxury hotel, Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown" defiantly warding off any untoward negativity.
The imposing sculpture stands over two-metres tall and took Alice one and a half months, of meticulously applying small recycled ceramic tiles onto a concrete form, to complete.
"I was a little concerned, towards the end, that I might not manage the deadline. Yet the attributes of the ox; strength, reliability, confidence and conscientiousness focused me into ploughing through to the end and on time," explained Alice.
Mrs. Guerra, who conducted ceramic-art workshops for children with special needs last Christmas, took on the role of setting-up and chairing the Inkmaker Group Foundation at the start of this year. She concluded that there is a lot to be done and that she has many ambitious activities planned for 2021.
